Craig, thanks for taking up the suggestion. Meanwhile, I wasn't completely idle myself: I found the below passage in the daily column of 01/12/98 by Andrew Serwer, Senior writer at Fortune. I get it from Infobeat.com as the Fortune Money Daily. Serwer wrote the following on Indonesia:

<< ASIA.... The sitch in Asia looks pretty lousy. Wall Street sure
was spooked. That's what really sent stocks south on Friday!
Indonesia is the latest bugaboo. What's up with that? Well, the
Indonesians proposed a budget the other day that didn't address
many of the country's economic woes (as in nellies). So the
thinking now is the IMF might say, "to heck with you guys, we're
pulling our $40 billion aid package!" Next thing you know, the
rupiah and Indonesian stocks plummet, and the people start
hoarding food. My brother works over there. He just
e-mailed me and said rumors are rife, plots are being hatched
and the military is on red alert. He said he could be "living dangerously," if you know what he means!!!! U.S. officials will be talking with Indonesians next week! >>

Indonesia seems to be grim indeed (Tom, you're standing by?). I wrote Andrew a note, trying to talk him and his brother into joining. Let's see.

It seems I'm constantly on this thread now - my own mistake <g> !
