Intel ramped up several new fabs during the year. I'm assuming that this is where the bulk of the new employees came from. Takes lots of techs to run a fab.

John, for what its worth,

looks like they picked up a little over 3 cents in the Q on favorable tax rates.. I would assume thats a one timer..

CNBC said that the story seems to be that an unforseen upswing in Europe was the reason why Intel's numbers were so good.

Unforseen by analysts but not by Yaacov. I believe he said something about improving business conditions in Europe months ago in this forum. Remember?

Just shows me the quality of the information available on this website.
