1) well that was the idea behind Obamacare Which didn't work. And also wasn't quite as big of issue as its sometime portrayed. Its not one of the largest drivers of health care costs, still less of federal government spending on health care costs. Your entitlement burden is compassion by most of the world. Label it compassion if you want but that doesn't make the trend of growing federal spending in general, more specifically on entitlements, and esp. on medical payments any more affordable. Its not just a US thing, similar promises are similarly unaffordable for many other countries. This has been broadly known for awhile but since its always been out in to the future its been easier for politicians to ignore the problem. But each year its unaddressed it gets closer to crisis.
