The Treasury Department has softened its position on sanctions against Russian metals giant Rusal—Oleg Deripaska’s company—giving it a 6-month reprieve while considering the company's appeal.
@kylegriffin1

The founders of Rusal: Roman Abramovich and Oleg Deripaska:

... In 2000, Deripaska's Sibirsky Aluminium and Roman Abramovich's Millhouse Capital created a partnership to manage the aluminium and alumina assets they controlled, and founded RUSAL. [33]

In 2003, businesses led by Deripaska increased their stake in those companies under common management to 75% by acquiring half of the interest managed by Millhouse Capital. [34]

In 2004, the consolidation of RUSAL's ownership by companies related to Deripaska was completed with the acquisition of the remaining 25% equity interest in RUSAL managed by Millhouse Capital. [33] ............. As of 2017, Deripaska maintains his position as president of RUSAL, focusing on the strategic development of the company, which employs more than 61,000 people in 20 countries on five continents.

...................

After Sibneft, Abramovich's next target was the aluminium industry. After privatisation the 'aluminium wars' led to murders of smelting plant managers, metals traders and journalists as groups battled for control of the industry. Abramovich famously emerged as the winner of the aluminium wars. [34] The Times stated that in a BBC investigation into Abramovich's wealth, reporter John Sweeney noted that, after the oligarch (Abramovich) emerged at the top of the trade, the murders stopped. [38] ........... Roman Abramovich has been alleged to be involved in various wrongdoings. The Times said that Abramovich "famously emerged triumphant after the ' aluminium wars', in which more than 100 people are believed to have been killed in gangland feuds over control of the lucrative smelters."

.........

Abramovich was the first person to originally recommend to Yeltsin that Vladimir Putin be his successor as the Russian president. [43]:135 When Putin formed his first cabinet as Prime Minister in 1999, Abramovich interviewed each of the candidates for cabinet positions before they were approved. [26]:102 Subsequently, Abramovich would remain one of Putin's closest confidants. In 2007, Putin consulted in meetings with Abramovich on the question of who should be his successor as president; Medvedev was personally recommended by Abramovich.

Abramovich was married to Dasha Zhukova, daughter of oligarch Alexander Zhukov, until August 2017. Abramovich supplies the steel for the Keystone pipeline, which candidate Trump promised would be made with American steel.

"The wildest thing that ever happened to us living in the White House was that we heard ghosts," Jenna said. "We maybe wouldn't have believed that had you told us the White House is haunted, but it indeed is."

Jenna speculated that the entity they came in contact with most often was the spirit of the nation’s first FLOTUS, Martha Washington, though Barbara wasn’t so sure. Because the ghost could play jazz music, Barbara believes the spirit was one of the White House’s more recent residents.
