I have to admit that I am beginning to be afraid of a paradoxical effect of the various problems with Asian economies, currencies, and stock markets. A world-wide stampede into American dollars, American bonds, and American stocks could result from both fear and greed operating together, producing a final huge spike in the markets, somewhat like what happened to gold and silver in the 1970s and 80s. I guess it depends on how much money is out there that can be transferred into American markets. If that happens I will just have to sit grimly on my BEARX position. There's no point in abandoning the lifeboat just because everyone is rushing to the other side of the ship, even if it means several months of misery.

But maybe it won't turn out that way. And there's no moral imperative that says you have to join in mass insanity.

As you may have noticed: BEARX down over 4%. Never took up sky-diving but maybe it's time.
