I like todays development/trend more than the buy-out possibility. Some how it is more solid.

Jan,

I agree. The visibility on ASND now is infinitely more solid than the buy-out conjecture. I guess the buy-out conjecture was a crutch that many of needed to afford some ray of hope during the dismal days (Sector Investor never needed the crutch...he seemed to know all along that ASND would turn-around).

Now that core switching is so strong, in the U.S. and apparently in Europe (notice that INTC said Europe was strong?), there certainly seems to be more upside potential in raw performance than in a buyout at 40. For somewhat the same reason, I can understand why management would not be interested in a buyout given the underlying potential of this stock. If ASND were all RAS/RAC, it might be a different story.

So, if no buyout, what is ASND going to buy? David Masunis, the M&A person hired by ASND, must be looking at something. (Whatever it is, let it not be dilutive.)

On the other hand, it is worth asking Maverick if he still feels that ASND might be on the auction block.

P.S. Sorry. On reread, this was a long-winded post. I guess I'm just a bit giddy from today's action.
