If gun control really doesn't make them less likely to be murdered than either it doesn't actually decrease their chance to be shot and killed, or it increases their chance to be killed by other means.

The evidence suggests that gun control doesn't decrease their chance to be murdered (Suggests only, its not enough to be definitive.)
