Intel Corp (INTC) 77 +1 3/8: leading chip maker reports 4th qtr net $0.98 a share, 8 cents above the Street estimate and higher than most "whisper numbers." Revenues rose to $6.5 bln, 1.6% yr-over-yr and 5.5% sequentially;

The above was reported by Briefing.com and i think it accuratly reflects Intel beat most whisper numbers. Some of those whisper numbers are phony numbers put out by short sellers. JMO

Don, relax. My post wasn't directed at you personally. It was a comment on the story. The thrust being, to flat out say they missed the whisper # is wrong.

Dave

PS Agree with you on this years growth rate, but if you look at historical growth, over the last 5 years Intel is well over 20%, and has a very good chance of keeping that average going forward

I don't know why CNN said that whisper estimate was $1.05 in print while on the air today they said that whisper estimates varied considerably on each side of 90 cents. $1.05 represents selective editing of what they said today. Personally, I didn't hear any estimates of $1.05..
