The WH has attacked "correspondents" who are not honest in their reporting. As it should. Not sure how you see this as the same thing. Since when can the president not call the media out for its real, harmful, bias? That's not similar to fat-shaming the press secretary. We can't get rid of the media but it is reasonable to expect it to act like professionals.
