The Nephew and his wife only went there for a vacation. In their late thirties. Tried to tell him it was not the safest place and travel warnings were in effect. He claimed the warnings are always over blown. Him and his three brothers own a reasonably successful hydro line clearing & construction company so perhaps he thought being a boss he was invincible.

When I spoke with my sister last night she said they were definitely concerned for their safety now. Was willing to pay to have someone get them to Costa Rica but the trouble was not knowing anyone in a foreign country, Who could they trust ? An eye opener for sure.
Today they called again said they were back at the resort and not leaving the premises again till they could safe passage. Trying to hire a helicopter to pick them up on the beach for transfer to a secure international airport if they could.

Stupidity in my books to be there in the first place. So many Canadian and US citizens seem to think the rest of the world is safe like it is at home. But it's not true. I suppose safety it is just another thing we take for granted, rather than appreciate .
