I think the .08 will be priced in within the first 60 minutes of trading.. then the price will be determined solely by forward looking earnings estimates that reflect the guidance from the conference call. In a nutshell, this means a quick spike in the first hour, followed by a heavy retreat. That's all there is too it. Seems to me AMAT beat their number by .05 last quarter, it made a jump to 40 before promptly reversing. I still think my Jan 90s wille expire worthless <g>.

I believe tomorrow (and the next few months) will be somewhat neutral. I'm a very long term investor in INTC (since 1980, and I've been increasing my net position nearly every year). I consider the earnings news good but not great. Even though I have few doubts about Intel's coninued long-term success, I'm a bit skeptical that we'll see huge gains in the share price in the short-term. I would be thrilled if we could get up 10% more from this level by the end of 1998, before the next big cyclical upswing is expected.
