What they did was "advise and consent", mostly by advising that they weren't gonna consent. Traditions may have been broken, but laws weren't. No, the Constitution wasn't destroyed to put him on the court. Will we do the same if we regain control of the Senate in '18, and Trump gets another pick? Depends on whether he nominates Garland.
