Tomorrow should be interesting. COMS conference.

On Wednesday morning 3Com executives will gather with analysts at the Essex House in New York City, in a private meeting that will help set the tone for stocks such as Bay Networks (BAY:NYSE) and Cabletron (CS:NYSE). (3Com has little direct product overlap with bellwether Cisco (CSCO:Nasdaq), so the linkages there are emotional.) 3Com's 10Q document, filed Tuesday morning, explained its weakness in Asia and its continuing inventory difficulties. But the pros hope to learn a lot more on Wednesday.

I still believe ASND will be bought out for the convergence of voice, data, video, fax is taking place right now.

Why can't LU reach an agreement with ASND, and even announce an
imminent merger effective 10/1/98 or whenever the "pooling of
interest" restriction is lifted later this year?

LU already dabbled in LAN, GBE, enterprise arena w/ recent acqs., and in
voice w/ Octel acq. and its own. LU also will debut WDM switches this
year.

NT has already created their own WAN ATM. LU has not.
