I am not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing... It will just delay a correction.

On a better note gold is rallying on the Asian Markets where it left off in North America today. Asian markets are up all over the place tonight....

For once I get to report on a stock I already own.

Two large crosses, one by Nesbitt at 300,000+ shares and one by McDermid at 400,000 shares put Velvet Exploration (VLV) into second most active trading spot on the VSE based on a volume of over 1 million.

This is an oil & gas exploration company with some exceptional properties in central Alberta. So far, they have come up with mainly natural gas on the first 6 holes drilled. The company is well financed, but a large overhang resulting from a large number of shares becoming free trading at year end as well as the correction in the sector in general have brought the share price down substantially to the $1.35 level from earlier levels of $3.50 plus.

Well worth keeping an eye on, but now not necessarily the best time to get in IMHO. Could be interesting by mid year as more wells are drilled and prices for Alberta gas producers strengthen in anticipation of higher spot prices for natural gas as a result of increased pipeline capacity due to be available towards the end of this year.

Regards,
Tom McIlwain

Hi Essam... Looks like Gold closed over $300 and things are starting to turn around. Wim I mentioned a while ago and just followed with mild interest has doubled in the past few days. I have no idea why but I think it might be because they have a low cost producing mine.

Comdex was interesting this week and The mining show on sunday and money should be interesting as well.

Hi Essam! Any chance we can revive this thread? I used to really enjoy it!

I'll try to start out ...

Wenzel Downhole [WZL-ASE] which recently underwent a name change (used to be Master Downhole Canada -- MDH.A-ASE) traded an unusually heavy volume last Monday (353,000 shares) and since then has traded actively and risen about 30% from about $0.95 to about $1.25 (traded as high as $1.35 intra-day today). Looking at the bid/ask board, the stock is fairly heavily bid. Anybody know what's going on or care to make a prediction?

I'm long this next one ... Tiger Resources International [TGR-VSE] traded record one-day volume today and closed up $0.14 (13%) to close at $1.19 (bid $1.20 ask $1.24) on volume of 80,400 shares. This thinly traded and tightly held stock is capitalized at approximately $5 million at todays closing price (with one million $ in working capital). They have a 70% interest (with the option to earn an additional 10%) in a very interesting diamond property in Southern Australia. There are currently some very good write-ups on this company both here at SI and also at StockHouse.

Cheers,
Richard
