One of my regrets is never having had a Golden Retriever, but I've moved to smaller dogs partly because of the poop factor. One of my best dogs was Angel who was a German Shorthaired Pointer. I took her to the lake all the time. Boy, did she love the water and she was smart too. :) Josh * * *

I think you would find it rewarding to adopt an older dog. Apparently, 7 is considered senior but even at that age they have a lot of life left. Have you ever looked at this site? olddoghaven.org Most of them are too far away for me only because of Harvey's stress level in the car but I keep looking anyway on the off chance there is a dog not too far south of Bellingham. I couldn't/wouldn't adopt a dog without a meet'n'greet with Harvey.
