(*)Years ago I went on a long scooter ride through the Pac NW and Western Canada. Several times, late at night and exhausted, we sacked out in the park of some tiny burg. The local gendarmes confused us with tramps and had us on our way while still dark or very early AM. The rats!
Many moons ago - 1970 I believe, the year the movie Woodstock came out - I was on a cross-Canada trip. We saw the aforementioned movie in Penticton, BC, then bedded down in the local park. We were rousted sometime around dawn by the local Gendarmes who informed us public sleeping was a no-no.

We skedaddled for the more accommodating Vancouver, where we took up residence on Wreck Beach, which is sometimes referred to as a "clothing optional" beach.
