If you have money saved in one account, that is earning interest or income, and also have debt (mortgage, car loan, etc) does you savings account in fact not make real interest?

The question is not whether your net investment income and net interest payments on debt are negative or positive or zero. Your saving account can still be growing even if you have a house mortgage.
