"Record exports trimmed the U.S. trade deficit in March, the first drop in seven months in a massive gap that President Donald Trump is determined to shrink with an aggressive America first policy."

i keep wondering where thomas sowell and walter williams, both with PHDs in economics, have gotten it wrong about trade deficits. do you or anyone else know where they've gone wrong? because they both claim that trade deficits are nothing to be concerned about. they say that trade deficits simply don't matter. as a matter of fact, they say that trade deficits only exist in beancounters minds. and the beancounters don't really understand what they're doing or counting. and for the most part, beancounters aren't even economists.

and if we ever accept the truth in what sowell and williams are saying, then we're trying to solve a non-existent problem. and taking action to 'solve' a non-existent problem could create a REAL problem.
