Sheldon, I agree with you about the computers being on all the time, at least mine is. What I was trying to convey was this; it seems like every few days a new company pops up. Or at least new to me. As for this company, I don't know much about it yet. According to the verifications you get up to 8 attempts, that doesn't say much for the FAR or FRR IMO.

>>I believe that most users leave their computers on all day. How would this help them. Once the computer is on how would this product provide protection? Any techs who use computers regularly want to comment. <<

Use hot key macros (like your function keys or alt+tab works) to shut the computer down to sleep mode / screen saver when the engineer leaves his workstation. NRID COULD enhance the keyboard sw (esp if they are tied to Keytronics) to allow the user to hot key (say 'alt+g') his computer off--to get back on, you HAVE to do a NRID pad ID.

Regarding leaving your computer on all day, I think it depends on the individual's job. If you're a bank/credit union teller and you leave your workstation, it's important that the teller sign off. Another option is to have a biometric screen saver activated after 30 seconds, 1 minute, etc.

For small businesses, this may not be a problem, but in larger offices, all employees need to use extreme caution. A system requiring a finger image for supervisor authorizations would be best.
