Tape reading is likely a part of the successful day trading "system". A good tape reader has been at it for a long period of time. This is at least one not readily reproducible part of the system, at least with respect to newcomers. I do not think you will find traders down on the floor with their PCs and TA reall-time charting software. This is why I think they rely heavily on the tape. Day trading is not floor trading, but I think there are more simularities than differences, since both are trading large blocks on intraday price fluctuations.

Richard: You say you have trading experience and that is why you can't believe Day Trading is an effective method of trading. Then you
suggest that the successful Day Traders have a reproducable system.

If you can't believe it is an effective method of trading, how could you believe there are successful Day Traders???????????

Do you expect successful Day Traders to come on this thread and show you A>B>C how to make obscene amounts of money??

IF they were willing to part with this information they would probably sell it. For example Jeff Cooper, Linda Raschke etc...

Personally I think most Day Traders realize that many of them are chasing the same " too small group " of heavily traded/volatile stocks and have no interest in tipping their hands to other Day Traders - no matter how remote the risks of system replication be.(Although if you would like my picks AFTER I buy or sell, I would be happy to oblige;))
