Maxwell,

Strategy to Get AMD Profitable Again:

Regarding to AMD's non-profitability, this is not FAB 25 plant managers' fault. You should be prosecuting the engineers sold on IBM's hyped-up processes.

John.

Ps. I hope these same guys do not get sold on IBM's new Cu processes.

Maxwell, The story goes that Vandam was in charge of production for the k-6 as it was his baby. SDC certified the process for k-6 and transfered the process technology to Austin. At Austin production Engineers differed with SDC and went their own way which turn out wrong. Since Vandam was responsible and indifferent as to the process rather then following SDC's advice he was replaced. SCD personell are now all over Austin. SDC has taken over and are now is chagre of the process and the fab. Confidence has been expressed things should be returning back to normal real soon.

I have a suggestion for the AMD board of directors:

Fire the #$%^ing CEO on the spot.
