I've been looking at some twitter vids of the Iranian demos and they look to be well marshalled. Most of the folk I've seen leading these demos seem to be very fit. It also appeared that a couple of the demos had their own security.

In some of the twitter vids it looked like govt security types were remarkably passive and not doing the head knocking stuff like I used to see in France a long while ago. In some others it looked like the demonstrators were attacking security forces and driving them off.

The mullahs don't trust the army and under fund it, and favour the IRGC and Basij. But much of IRGC is in Irag, Syria and probably Yemen. The Basij are not battle hardened and are only used to terrifying unarmed unorganized civilians

Since the demos are happening all over the country and apparently at will, my theory is the mullahs are gradually losing control.
