I would not credit Obama with the net change in the DOW since election day...

The market is different from economic data. While the economic data doesn't change until something happens to trigger the change, the market moves on expectation. I agree that Trump's election affected the market before Trump and co. did anything to affect the actual economy, which wasn't until near the end of his first year in office. As a practical matter, though, it didn't really change the DOW's trajectory but probably its energy.

I didn't mention that earlier because I didn't want to get that far down in the weeds and because I specifically responded to your comment about the unemployment rate, not economic indicators in general so it was outside my scope.
