Jay, why are low prices of DRAM bad for the overall market? This is an assumption that should be examined. If, for instance, gasoline prices reduced to 50 cents/gallon, that would be good for automobile sales, although perhaps bad for those who had sunk money into Texas oilwells. So, too, why is there not a perspective that low DRAM prices are good for at least some elements of the semiconductor equipment sector, although not too good for those who had sunk money into 4 and 16 megabyte memory chip manufacturing (Particularly the Koreans)? After all, one of the reasons we are seeing the $1,000 computers now really coming into popularity is that they can come equipped with 32meg of memory. Just looking for the silver lining . . .

Sincerely,

GTW
