I'm still short and holding. So far, so good. Shorting means that you are selling a stock without owning it. You sell it on the open market. The buyer will want to take delivery, so you borrow it from someone who already owns it(the brokerage does this for you at no charge). You then deliver the stock to the buyer. Then you wait for the stock to drop in value. When it does, you buy it...a straight buy. You then give back the borrowed stock and pocket the difference between what you sold it at, and what you bought it for. Sell high...buy low. Gottit?
