If you are near any AMES stores, please go and visit them. Day to day and week to week changes will give you an idea how the stores are doing. Limited upscaling is working. Traffic continues to be good. Need I say more.

Ames short interest moved up about 100,000 in December, 1997; when market makers move prices up to $19+/share. Market was shifting money into bonds, so stock is weak. Since bond yields reversed to 5.75%+, stocks will be much stronger in a few more days.

Currently market makers are accumulating, watch out for spreads. When year end results come out, some recent buyers will have a nice move.
