I would think because they only want to pay $35-40 and Ascend is worth
about $50. We will be at $40 soon...so by June who knows....maybe will
have someone more serious involved by then?Do we get a pop tomorrow, now
that we finally have upgrades?

Jeff,

I believe LU is serious. They do not want to pay more than they must. NT could force their hand since I feel NT is further along in data than LU at present.

Jeff,

I agree that ASND probably doesn't really want to sell below $40.
However, if we take it at face value (per Maria B) that ASND
countered LU's offer of $35 with $40, then how could that happen?

One way would be to reach an agreement, say for $40 now, effective
10/1/98, unless there are legal reasons to prevent that.

I'm with you. If LU doesn't act soon, they'll have to pay a hell
of a lot more than $35-$40 for ASND, especially if they wait until
the end of the year (how long is that in web years?)
