Bob,
Some interesting news on the evening report. The Finance Minister has proposed some regulatory changes in the way banks report the value of land holdings, and PM Hashimoto has announced tax cuts (did not say how much) and a proposed 30 trillion yen to help failing financial institutions. No specifics and was challanged by a Communist Party member on using public funds to support banks that already had adequate capital. PM assured this was not the case. PM also has reshuffeled his cabinate. Probably as an attempt to stay in power. New coalition has formed and sellect a popular politician, Hata, to lead their group. Coalition includes two former PMs.
