I’ve heard of four.

I’ve worked with bankruptcies that failed because of mismanagement. And I’ve worked with them that were a result of circumstances beyond managemnet's control. No idea which is more common.

Sometimes it is because of too much debt, others it is because revenue didn’t materialize. I worked with a rehabbed historic hotel once that was 25million in the hole after three months of operations. I don’t think they rented 100 rooms the entire time they were open. The partners were all but one highly experienced real estate lawyers and I had to tell them they had all been fucked by the guy they hired to do the rehab then run the place.

You can’t just paint with a broad brush. You have to look at individual circumstances.
