Why, exactly, is the abrogation of the agreement going to make political change more difficult?

The opposite could happen as sanctions once again bite into Iranian standard of living, and they realize that the clerics' actions are probably responsible for the decline.

The clerics have mismanaged the Iranian economy, and that is what matters most to the general populace. That will only get worse.

Iranians are fairly sophisticated, they are unlikely to make the simplistic connection between abrogation of the deal and Trump as the cause of their declining standard of living.

Flag burning in Iranian cities - yawn. How easy is it to stage those events? Oh, and they are now shouting "Death to America!" Ok, they've been doing that for decades. So what?

Saudis threaten to get their own nukes - yawn - give me something better than that. Don't forget that the Saudis have a religious umbrella because nuking them would demolish sacred Muslim sites. Do you really think the clerics are going to do that? Unthinkable. That is the real source of the Saudis nuclear protection and the reason they don't need nukes. Thus, the Saudis are free to say anything they want.

And even if they did, so what. A mini MAD in the ME might not be a bad thing. Kept us and the Russians safe for decades.
