Looks like Homeowners Association (known as Strata Corporation here) was sleeping on the job.. Property Manager was hired to do a job so he should have been managed every step of the way and every legal document that the Manager signed should have been reviewed and approved or rejected by the Association..

To put it bluntly, he was a hired help for specific tasks but it would have been Homeowners Association on the hook if there was any legal dispute, mishaps, lawsuit etc. with either the Restaurant or for that matter units that were being rented out..

Hotel name being the same as Building Name.. I assume the Building Name is a legal entity for the condo building ?

FWIW.. Obviously, laws may or may not be same or similar but here is some information about Strata Corporations.. www2.gov.bc.ca
