I'm glad I didn't short any of the hi-flyers recently. Too much risk involved. I know Roger is incredibly fast on his feet and can get away with shorting a yhoo or an aol but for the rest of us, myself included, I think it is safer sticking to sure losers like avnt and zitl, though zitl is too low to short here for me at least. I believe that the money is gushing uncontrollably into the market and it will push up the market yet again. I have noticed that every six months the market seems to tank so if the last collapse was Oct then the next will be in April or so. All the asian markets are exploding upwards tonight. How many days in a row has Korea gone skyward? I think the asia flu is losing its virulence, and while it will knock down earnings 10-15% in some cases, it appears that the worst is over. Tomorrow is the key test. Obviously we will explode out the gate with Intel's numbers, but the real test will come later if the market reverses. If the market ends down then we are perhaps not out of this downward funk we've been in for several months lately, which has been kind to shorties. However, if the market ends higher then it may be that the bear market is history and everyone should adjust their strategies. I don't know what will happen but I think extreme caution for shorters is warranted here. Perhaps something else negative will surprise the market and throw it for a loss but the asia flu is getting old and remember, the market looks forward not back. I just wish there were some more sure losers that will go down no matter the season, but there aren't many around right now. I think short term trading is the best strategy right now, something that I have to learn and really improve on. One lesson I have learned the hard way is that old saw: never fight the market. For the past few years the market wanted to go up (except for very brief weeks where it tanked). Then recently it has been in a bear market funk. Now it may be shifting again, and if it is shifting, then so will I. No use being a hero, I just want to make the easy money. Good luck, everyone. P.S. Mark I agree with you on Intel. I have Jan 80 calls (another abysmal failure) and I will look to exit them sometime tomorrow, unless the market absolutely goes bonkers. 80 has been the noose for intel too many times in the past...
