I don't think there's much disagreement that pale skin and red hair were in both Neanderthals and humans and this trait came about because of a malformed gene (a mutation).

The FUBHO theory that Neanderthal was superior is not logical since Neanderthal died off during a mini Ice Age, even though it was stronger than humans. Homo Sapiens were able to make weapons and find better shelter etc. because we have superior brain functions. The use of weapons made it easier to take down large animals and eat it for many days while the Neanderthal was forced to find small game etc. and use up far more energy getting food. The Neanderthal most likely starved to death.

I'd think Asians would need a stronger trait to absorb V-D from food than Native Americans since their skin color is lighter and less tolerant of sun but then you're talking about babies in a very closed ("living in a house") environment.
