Fujitsu to launch sample shipment of 256M DRAM in 2nd half to March 2000

TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - Fujitsu Ltd said it plans to launch sample shipments
of its 256 megabit dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips, the next
generation of 64M DRAM chips, in the second half to March 2000.
Fujitsu said that if sample shipments prove to be a success it will start
mass-production at three domestic plants as early as in the year to March
2001.
However, Fujitsu said it has not set any specific target on production of
the 256M DRAM chips.
Fujitsu said its combined micro-chip output, including 4M, 16M, 64M and
flash memory chips, currently runs at 25.0 mln units a month.
