Just spent the last 2 days in hell, Lingo programming at a major multimedia firm. This company is not the topic of discussion other than to say the CEO showed up hammered out of his mind.

Anyway, we imported the cast members using Jaz cartridges from the video and audio editors. No SyJet to be seen. I suspect they may be in another room, but the point is that they might as well gather dust since all of the workstations here have internal Jaz drives straight from the manufacturer (Power Computing). SyQuest's life depends totally on SyJet, and that franchise is the only thing saving them from drowning in a sea of red ink, shady earnings reports, marketing and management scams, incredible debt, and share dilution.

For $199 you can now by a 1 GB SyQ SparQ but you can't exchange cartridges with anybody. Add to that a bunch of unreleased products that are just as unreleased as the unreleased Jaz2.

The Jaz line is STILL racking up sales.

Rockhead, You missed my post. $199 Jaz with 1 GB disk has been
on sale at J & R Computer for the last 3 weeks. They are a big
mail order concern that regularly has 1 or 2 full page ads in the
sunday NY Times. (I only get the Sunday's here.) The real
question is if SparQ is so good, why are they selling a new
product at such a low price. How are they going to cover their
R & D and start up costs. Jaz has been out for sometime, so
they can afford to cut the price.

Regards, David S.
Long on Intel and Iomega

PS: Curious, I gave you a compliment about your Intel purchase and you
ignore it. Do you crave the criticism you normally get and hate
success. I once worked with someone like that a few years go.
He ended up with a nervous breakdown.
