"Human rights monitors and the UN have heavily criticized the massive civilian toll from such strikes and the US military's supporting role. They have also raised questions about Washington's potential complicity in war crimes and violations of international law. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has said that the campaign must stop."

Do you accept that the UN has condemned US enemies for bombing wedding parties?

14 July 2012 - The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) strongly condemns the suicide bombing that occurred today at a wedding party in Aybak, in Samangan province.

More than 17 civilians were killed, including Member of Parliament Ahmad Khan Samangani, and more than 40 others were wounded.

“Such indiscriminate targeting of civilians by anti-government forces, such inhumane brutality that is against the teachings of Islam and against international law should stop immediately. Let us be clear: the perpetrators and instigators of such outrages will eventually be held accountable for their crimes,” said Ján Kubiš, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Afghanistan.

The principle of distinction is a customary norm of international humanitarian law. Intentionally directing attacks against the civilian population amounts to a war crime. UNAMA has documented an increase in the targeting of government and elected officials over the past six months.

The United Nations extends its deepest condolences to the family members of the victims and wishes those injured in the attack a speedy recovery.
