Yeah, I sort of expected someone to think that-lol.

You need to know the context.

One, people would not rent to hippies. We were considered vermin. We were in the same position as minorities enduring segregation in the south.

To put a fine point on it almost all my friends dropped me and shunned me and the rumor around the campus was I was taking drugs and gone crazy. We had one table in the cafeteria.

This was a revolution and the straight world was our enemy. We were iconoclasts trying to take down the the existing norms and mores and the class structure and indeed conspicuous consumption like the fraternities. We were very idealist. And we were the underdogs fighting the good fight against racism, the VietNam war and cultural bigotry.

To know our revolution read Herman Hesse's books. I read them all.

Today people take it all for granted, but in the early 60's it was a real war. The straight world was on our asses big time. Go back and see what Reagan and Hayakawa did to us!

It was not a real strict thing about dating. If the guy or girl was nice it was fine, but the girls preferred us as we respected them and the straight guys mostly just wanted to exploit them.

<,

hmmmmm.... have to admit, seems a bit bigoted

>>I was managing a six plex and only rented to hippies... I kept to our tribe.

also sounds a bit like a pimp

"our girls " slept with us
