Hi James,
I posted awhile back about these verses. I think the Church indwelt by the Holy Spirit is not the retraining force. It is not sin that is being held back but an individual. In the last days "sin will increase" as it is.

Have a great day,

Bob

James, just to help me clarify what people believe, could you please explain to me how there is any correlation at all with "The Great and Terrible Day of the Lord" referred to in Thes. II, which everyone seems to take over the mouth of Jesus Christ in Luke 2l: 30-36. We are warned clearly there not to be caught thinking about things or the world, or to be caught drinking. Specifically called "surfeiting" and "drunkeness". Can you in any way explain to my poor brain which has not cells to figure this out how such a warning would be given for those on the day the Lord returns in final glory with a huge army on horseback, which is the Day of the Lord? How this can be a thief in the night experience that comes and goes and there is a momentary window of opening after which all is lost for that window?

I'm having a lot of trouble seeing what others see in scripture, and am just looking for clarification of the doctrine of Thes. 2 and how it takes precedence over paragraphs in the gospels from the mouth of Jesus.

James, I must apologize. As usual I spoke before I read carefully what I was answering. It seemed to me that suddenly you had changed your position and were now with the concept of a last minute rapture, after all of the horrible blood bath and the utter destruction of the world.

In that case, I must again say, why bother with discussing the matter?
