Alan, Let us look at Matthew 24 and Luke 21 within the context it was given, to whom it was given, when was it given, and by whom. The disciples who believed that Jesus was the long awaited promised One, asked the Lord questions, after He told them that not a stone would be left unturned in the Temple they had been looking at. The questions are; 1. When will these things be. 2. What will be the sign of Your coming, and the end of the age. These disciples asked thier Lord a valid question and Jesus gave His disciples( those who asked the questions His answers). Luke 21:5-24 and Matthew 24:1-26 HAS ALL BEEN FULLFILLED as spoken by Jesus to His Disciples questions. Please note that these disciples were living on the other side of the Cross and although they believed that Jesus was the long awaited Messiah, they lacked a understanding as the Holy Spirit had not been given yet. Luke 21:8-24, Jesus here is telling His disciples what they can expect to happen to Jerusalem and the nation after His resurrection and ascension back to glory. Around 66-67AD, 30-35 years after the Lords ascension The political climate, which had been deteriorating between the Romans and the Jews came to a head when Rome beseiged Jerusalem and surrounded the city. This seige lasted only a short time and the Roman army was recalled back to Rome. The Jews inside the city believed they had won, but the Jewish christians remembered what Jesus had said just 35 five years earlier what would happen to Jerusalem. These christians immediately fled the city and went into the hills as Jesus had instructed them to. Weeks later , which by the way was the celebration of Pass-over in Jerusalem and the city had nearly 2.5 million people sqeezed into itself, the Roman army returned with a vengeance and besieged the city. The seige lasted many many months, and when Rome finally entered the city they could not belive what they witnessed. The inhabitants of Jerusalem had committed cannabalism of unprecedented magnitude. Deuteronomy 28 speaks very cleary that this would happen to this nation and it surely did. This was the great tribulation spoken about in scripture. It was not an outside nation that committed these atrocities against the Jewish people but THEMSELVES. Matthew 24: 1-26 and Luke 21:1-24 HAS ALL BEEN FULLFILLED AROUND 70 AD ACCORDING TO WHAT THE LORD JESUS CHRIST HAD TOLD HIS DISCIPLES WOULD HAPPEN TO JERUSALEM AND THE NATION OF ISRAEL. This theory of dispensationalism, the rapture, ( pre, mid, post ) and much more which many gullible christians are embracing is utterly unscriptural and is based on man doctrine and not the WORD OF GOD. Father I ask that You, by Thy Holy Spirit would cause the hearts and minds of Your children to recognise and abandon man made doctrines and myths which clearly violate Your Holy Word. May Your Son , the Lord Jesus Christ be praised and worshipped for-ever more. Robert. P.S. The above only answes the first question that the disciples asked .
