At a town hall meeting in Indianapolis, Obama taunted Trump when asked about the loss of hundreds of jobs at Carrier. "Some of those jobs of the past are just not going to come back. And when somebody says like the person you just mentioned who I’m not going to advertise for, that he’s going to bring all these jobs back. Well how exactly are you going to do that? What are you going to do? There’s no answer to it," Obama said. "He just says, ‘I’m going to negotiate a better deal.’ Well how? How exactly are you going to negotiate that? What magic wand do you have? And usually the answer is, he doesn’t have an answer." The magic wand is called tax relief. Abracadabra, the corporate tax rate dropped from the 35% to 21%. And abracadabra, United Technologies -- the parent company of Carrier -- just announced it will create 35,000 new jobs over the next five years. This is an investment of $15 billion. The jobs are not just at Carrier. "United Technologies is growing globally and growing the fastest in the United States. Over the past three years, we have created more jobs in the U.S. than in the rest of the world combined," said CEO Gregory J. Hayes. "Our investments reflect our core belief that, similar to U.S. economic goals, United Technologies' continued success will be dependent on a highly-skilled workforce, world class manufacturing facilities, and workforce education programs that enable employees to improve their skills and remain competitive in an increasingly digital economy."
