taxi,
i bleieve most of what you feel to be in line with what the scriptures say about the poor and the opression of the arrogant. There is an account Jesus gave of Lazurus and the Rich man. Every day the rich man would pass by this beggar that had sores on his legs that dogs were licking (sounds like hell) and the beggar would ask for help and the rich man would ignore and look down on him. Well they both died and Lazurus the beggar was then seen in the arms of father Abraham in paradise and the rich man in a miserable place (i don't like the word hell, but he was burning, maybe in his heart) and Abraham told him "you have recieved your reward and this man had nothing so now he is recieving his reward. This is interesting to me that they were not judged for their interpretation of the word. However in order for us not to be decieved (like the bakers, swaggert and etc...) we need to have a personal relationship with Jesus who was the greatest example of love that ever existed on this earth. He always cared for the oppressed and poor as well as the rich with encouraging them to do the same as He. Eternal life is not the only issue to me it is knowing a loving Lord that leads us to a life of adundant love, mercy and kindness. We may think we are good but until Gods light opens our eyes we can not see all that well. I heard a beautiful teaching about light (Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the light) light is silent but shows us everything, makes us warm and keeps us from stumbling. In Leviticus God tells Aaron to have the priest that come before Him to comb their hair, wear fine linen and TAKE A BATH HA! So I believe He wants us to be clean and orderly when we worship Him but the hypocrisy you see is that they are sometimes clean on the outside and dirty inside like the Pharisees. Jesus called them Crypts all white on the outside but full of dead mans bones and rot on the inside and no baths can make that clean. That is a job for the Holy Spirit of God to wash us clean inside by loving people and taking care of the poor and oppressed. As a note in the Old Testament God says why do you honor those that are opressing you? Because they are rich?
I believe that Jesus deeply loves all mankind and knocks on the door to have a personal relationship with everyone that is willing. His love bubles in me and I seek it desperately like He said it is like truly finding that pearl of great price, I seek to get it with all my being and that pearl is Jesus.
Thank you for your love and concern for the people caught in mans hell and it shows you have compssion and insight. May the Lord bless you today and always, Nancy
