And grew up down the road from me in Malvern. But they are so, so busy. There are two main surgeons and several residents. doctors.uamshealth.com Last time I was in the nurse told me they had scheduled 11 surgeries the day before. When one surgery occupies the robot for several hours, I don’t know how they make it. The same robot is used for GI procedures, Brain, etc. But each one is multimillion. Medicare pays the same for robotic surgery with a 24 hour hospital stay as it does with traditional surgery and a 3-4 day stay. These docs plus 2 others are doing this procedure robotically, but the delay in seeing them was very long. One this is UAMS is opening clinics around the state, which is good because they’ll get more commercial insurance. UAMS had two pathologists review my slides, had them genomically analyzed to determine how aggressive my cancer is, an MRI and a lot of blood work, robotic surgery and 1 day inpatient. No idea about cost as they have never posted a bill. That could be part of the problem. My wife had ear surgeries there by Dornhoffer, who invented the procedure. Restored her hearing in one ear (the other couldn’t be fixed.) Another fine doctor who could be working anywhere in the country. I hope Walmart will bring more tech to Arkansas in the future. Hot Springs will always be about tourism. I don’t know what’s going to happen to LR and Pine Bluff. Both so crime ridden. NW Arkansas is going to be the wealth center. If we were staying here I think we’d move up there. Oh, well. Times change. But I’d hate to see the Med School sinking under the weight of Nopays. I hate to have to call them up and ask them to send me my 30k bill!
