If Japan, China, and India consist of good percentages of their asia markets, they will be OK. Otherwise, they will have problems.

craig, Agreed. One has to separate the Asian markets from the Asian economies. I believe that the Asian markets are nearing bottom over the next two months, as we reach the end of the Japanese Fiscal year.

But the economic effect in Asia will be a slowdown and that will develop over the next 3-6 months.... The Asian markets were a leading economic indicator of the pending slowdown...Their current bottoming processes give a hint or two when the Asian econmies will begin to accelerate again-maybe in the late fall....

Sincerely,

Doug F.

<<The Asian crisis has only begun! The full effects won't be felt for a few more quarters. Can we assume that in a few quarters COMS will have declines of 10%-15% in Asia? Looks to me like it's not zero growth from Asia, it's declines from Asia.>>

For consumer companies this could well be. I read of some poor Koreans donating their Gold wedding rings to the government - anything to do their part in times of crisis. They aren't about to rush out and buy a COMS modem to connect to the Internet, are they?

However, enterprises, governments and infrastructure companies realise that communications technology is a key to their future. I think spending will continue - maybe not huge growth, but continue it will.

ASND could get 0 growth in Asia, while COMS sees declines, IMO.

Craig,

What is the TSC article? Does the TSC article say that COMS's asian sales last quarter fell 5% year over year? Can one find the same information from COMS's source? It seems that the most recent 10Q doesn't have the information.

Thanks.

H.Wai

COMS recent Asian sales were growing at 50%. U.S. sales were growing at around only
15%. I haven't read the 10Q yet but the TSC article said that last quarter Asian sales
FELL 5% year over year. The Asian crisis has only begun! The full effects won't be felt
for a few more quarters. Can we assume that in a few quarters COMS will have declines
of 10%-15% in Asia? Looks to me like it's not zero growth from Asia, it's declines
from Asia.

It does appear Europe is picking up the slack.
