Apparently you can't read. I didn't say the Depression wasn't horrible. I just showed you that you were full of shit when you said "threw millions into abject poverty and refused to help as they starved to death", cuz people didn't starve to death.

You should try using actual facts.

The fertility rate collapsed during the Great Depression so fewer babies mean fewer babies dying from childhood illnesses. We can confirm this by looking at death rates by disease.

The biggest decline in deaths came from "congenital deformities" which declined from 65.9% to 10.1%. This makes sense because fewer babies mean fewer dying from deformities.

The next biggest decline came from "external causes" which declined from 55.1% to 0 (most likely an error). Regardless, both these two numbers declined significantly in the 1937 so it could be an error in the numbers or something else happened.

There was also a dramatic drop in TB. The cure for TB happened in the 40s so something else was going on...maybe people stayed home and didn't do anything (for many years) so their lack of contact with others would cause the TB rate to fall.

Most of the other major diseases increased during the GD.
