Jan, Wow! Thanks alot, this is exactly what I was looking for! I opened up all the looser trades and these formulas eliminated them all. I extended the -1 to -3 though. But thanks so much! It's funny, these don't look like any of the examples of the ref() in the manual.
It also seems to work w. Dahl as: Fml( "Dahl Primary Trend" ) >Ref(Fml( "Dahl Primary Trend" ),-1)

Thanks alot!
Chris

I'm trying to write a scan that identifies, among other things, stocks whose close 15-30 days ago achieved a new high, coupled with a new high for pvt(). Is there a short hand, condensed way to write this in Metastock, instead of repeating each day as follows: (ref(c,-15)=hhv(c,150) and ref(pvt(),-15)=hhv(pvt(),150)) or (ref(c,-16)=hhv(c,150) and (ref(pvt(),-16)=hhv(pvt(),150)) , etc.
