Hi cheif,

A neat piece of heritage from Chevrolet:

On the 50th anniversary of Chevrolet they created for the first time one horsepower for each cubic inch displacement - the 409 hp 409 cubic inch big block.

This car was from Louisiana and had a frame off restoration 21 years ago. It won many Show trophies in the Shreveport area People's choice best interior best paint best engine (a trunk load of them).

The original owner had it till his death - it was inherited by his nephew and purchased by a friend of mine (who has had a very successful used car lot of 40 years).

He and I have judged car shows together - he knew my idea of a perfect driver is an old complete restoration that has shown some age.

He did me a great favor by selling me this very clean, straight historically correct (numbers matching) two fours, four speed, positraction - 409.

It has a right rear brake cylinder that is leaking.

It does not stop! I'm going to rebuild the original rear brake cylinders and put on new Willwood front disc brakes (hold onto all the old parts) and upgrade the braking ability of this original car.

Interesting how technology marches on - this car had no: Power steering , power brakes, or power windows (all available)

It did have the big drivetrain and one option - push button radio - an amazing bit of electronics that goes directly to 6 previous set favorites. What a miracle - you don't have to turn the knob going down the road - guess it was a safety feature I cost 1% of the total MSRP!!

This neat car now rests in my fleet and will forever be a cherished ride - MY 409 :
