Trumpers now effectively arguing Obama adm was right, whatever it did or didn't do, cause Presidents are above the law, can do whatever the hell they want.

They should be. Because if DJT's lawyers' arguments are correct that the POTUS has complete control over DOJ and its investigations, including whether and how they are conducted, then he needs to stop whining because obviously anything Obama did with his DOJ was his prerogative.

Love the irony that Trump is claiming an absolute right to initiate & conduct any & all investigations; so exactly what crimes would have been done by Obama WH, DOJ, or FBI if we use Trump's perspective? POTUS can do anything, right?
