As Jay Chen says, "Zhang Zuolin was a 'deep-state' operative by definition because he opposed the leader of China at the time by protesting in Tiananmen Square."

Everyone who disagrees with the current leader in any way is called "deep-state traitor".

Deep-state and other Orwellian words are all part of the evolving and bizarre vocabulary of the Chinese Communist Party which has previously invented winners like "zou gou" aka "running dog lackies". This colorful phrase denotes an unprincipled person who helps or flatters those more powerful and often evil.

Needless to say the Communist Party of China claims they themselves are incapable of having "running dog lackies" because unprincipled support of the Communist Party is mandatory as opposed "deep state" which is a person who disagrees with the current Communist Party leader.

Ignorance is strength in communist China.
