I tend to focus on the fact that Margin leverages in both directions: Up and Down

Very wise statement that is very hard to figure out for some reason - me included.

Okay, I'm "WRONG AGAIN" trying to micro-time the market! LOL

Semi equip market is overall level so far today and Dow is down a little. But at least it didn't cost me. Covered NVLS short (I like Novellus long-term but it was in the top of its trading range yesterday) for 2 point gain and looking for shorts now. This exactly covered loss on opening purchase of AMAT and a couple others.

I'm going back to shorting issues at the top of the range and buying issues at the bottom. ASM coming down today, and KLAC getting low. I'm buying under 35. May short some Cymer if it hits 17 - current best estimate 600 lasers for 1998 and declining backlog, which means no sales growth over this quarter but maybe a little EPS gain on declining expenses. You have to think, long-term, litho is going to recover slower than T&P or automation, or maybe even select groups in front-end (such as CMP).
