There was a similar problem in the 1960s and early 1970s. Every major company wanted their own language. All of which tended to be some minor variant of Algol.

Regardless, there are some which have differences. Want a lot of threads and a bridge to functional programming? Look at Elixir. Which has two frameworks of note, Nerves for embedded and Phoenix if you want the full fat version.
